26th January 2026,

Today’s India’s 77th Republic Day.

We may pause to reminisce the years of heritage or may stand to critique the loss thereof. It might not mean much to anyone outside of India, but as kids we were in love with the idea of a country like ours. Thousands of years old yet standing tall, existing with resilience over dystopian dynasties and hardened rulers from foreign origins. The 7 or 8 year old me was stoked to wake up at 9am to wait and watch in procession what we delightfully call as “Jhankis” (a word meaning “a look into”). It was magical, the idea of people living in harmony, the idea what our nation was built upon, the idea of a single rulebook The Constitution lining up everyone and gathering them as one united nation.

Yet, the magic has been lost. I grew up, I am older now and i have a worldview which is much larger now. I have fascination with Geopolitics and How the world moves. I am half-way through my degree in engineering, and I’ve lived what every teenager in India lives through. Fair enough to say, that childlike wonder I had in me has disappeared. There’s nothing to me to be so awestruck about. It sucks.

It’s bleak and grey, nothing is sunshine and rainbows. It’s disheartening to the point of no return. AI taking over, the World Leaders collectively losing their sanity, Barcelona losing their entire grip on defense (might not mean much in the “world scale”, but what are those scales if not modifiable) and mostly everyday is a challenge to say “This was not on my 2026 Bingo Card”.

It’s diabolically funny how soulless AI Garbage can chart on Billboard and where AI artists end up gaining millions of monthly listeners. The world is…. Dystopian to say the least. It’s easy to lose hope, with people dying in wars around the globe. Iran cracking down vehemently on protestors, Israel still on their Gaza Genocidal Campaign, USA’s ICE doubling down arrests killing off innocents and India’s crackdown on those who ask questions. Many ask, who discard these claims as being “Privileged” and “Rich”, Why do you care what’s happening in the world, you don’t even live there. Valid Argument I must ascertain, because the leaders will not and never will care what a random person on social media is saying. But, the more we talk, the more there is a fighting chance for the sliver of humanity that’s left to survive.

If you believe in the Butterfly effect, I would say that please talk about these issues as it may just lead to ending wars. If you believe in Justice, Equality, or whatever morals you deem to be just and helpful for everyone, please talk about it. The problem with Gen-Z is the lack of elocution of personal thoughts and feelings. With all the issues we face right now, the voice of thoughts should run as fast as it can. But Gen-Z does not talk, that is what leads to all the mental health problems, emotional unavailability and just straight up toxic mindset which feeds into our brains. The frustration gets to us, makes us gullible, that’s what marks the beginning of the end.

I accept that I am not perfect, even while writing this, I feel this is going to be imperfect. This piece of writing, whatever you wish to call it can reach near perfection but will never be perfect. As they say, “To err is to be human”, I am no Generative Procedural Transformer (GPT) trained on data from lakhs of sources. I am just a regular guy, who is bad at grammar and punctuation (a slight F you to the ones who read correcting that the entire way), someone who is eternally doomed with imposter syndrome and I am also someone who has no idea about where they are in life right now, but there is one thing I believe, everything will work out in the end.

I stand to believe the “good” in humanity still exists. It won’t die.

As long as there are Journalists who work despite the fear of suppression, it won’t die.

As long as there are admirers of great persons like Abdul Kalam, it won’t die.

As long as there are people who work for others, care for others, cherish others for just the sake of helping them wishing for nothing in return, it will not die.

There’s something eerily satisfying about Mob Justice. The act of providing Justice lying with a group who will forever protect something they feel connected to is humanity at it’s best. David Bowie said “We Could be Heroes” and nothing would keep us down. He was absolutely correct. We don’t need to be Superman to help others, to light the candle of hope wherever it is needed. We can just sit writing, reading and professing our feelings out loud, even that is something we could be proud of. Maybe what you write touches someone, very possible that you talking to your friend might make their day ten times better and just your appreciation can go a long way.

You don’t need to conform to anything, you need to fly. Humans are free creatures, we have been gifted by nature to make the most of what little time we have in this microscopic specimen of a planet, what we call “home”. Humanity might feel like it has stagnated, but what is earth but a rock without the voices of human art fueling to its beauty.

just a flower on the ground

You are cosmically insignificant, and that’s a very funny yet lovely connotation to have about life. You, alongside the entirety of humankind is just a tiny spec, everything you know and you love. Yet, have you thought about how much everything means to you? It is beauty which lies in the human psyche that connects us all together. It might as well be you helping out an old lady that is crossing the road, might as well be you lending your book to someone who needs it or just talking to someone that means something to you. These are all significant acts in our tiny insignificant world that are the gift of humankind to itself.

Humanity is not dead, it is neither a hoax nor is it never going to heal. We are alive as long as we have not exhausted the kindness in us, as long as we have artists that explain to us the beauty of living and funnily enough superheroes children can look up to and wish to be like. Humanity lies in the crevices of our hearts we fear to visit out of fear of disappointing our own selves. But it isn’t fair to think that. Be free and let your heart out as much as you’d like. Be your own person, let all your fears aside. Do not conform yourself to the illusions you might to be perfect. You are you, and never let yourself down by following a misguided purpose. Freedom lies in the palm of your hands. Be human, be free.

Yours Blissfully,

a fellow traveler, navigating their life.
